Quite a large number of users simply love to spend the hot summer days in their own back yard, and sometimes they just feel the urge of having a shower and cool down a bit but they’re too lazy to go back inside the house. Since the number of such persons seems to be pretty large, the people from ProIdee have come up back in the first half of 2006 with the Solar Garden Shower, a device that uses a rather old concept in a very new and innovative manner.

The concept is (obviously) that of the water left out in the sun to heat up (up to a maximum of 50°C), in a recipient (in this case, a 20-liter one, which, used with care, can provide heated water for up to 5 persons), and then used for the shower. Quite obviously, after having been left in the sun for all that time, the water will be pretty hot, but this situation can be easily solved by connecting the garden hose to the shower, thus offering the possibility of adjusting the water's temperature.

The solar-heated shower offers a flow of hot water of around 5-6 liters/min, is suitable for water pressures between 2 and 4 bar (30-60 psi), can be installed anywhere in the garden, and, for safety reasons, it can even be anchored in a concrete or stone pavement (if there's one available), or even in the ground. Moreover, when summer is over, the shower can be left out in the open, but the water from the tank must be drained in order to avoid any damage caused by freezing.

The Solar Garden Shower retails for around 926 US dollars, which is quite an expensive price tag but, after all, this is a luxury device, and luxury does generally have its price.
